can alcoholics function at a higher BAC than joe average?
I know someone who got a DUI an popped a BAC of 0.3 😳. I’m shocked he could drive. I’m shocked he was not unconscious.
Someone told me alcoholics can function at a higher BAC than people who are not alcoholic.
I can’t find anything on the internet on this.

Yes they build up a tolerance. They not only can function they require more and more as time goes in daily drinker alcoholics often will drink a full 750ml bottle of their hard liquor of choice daily. If they are hiding it others may not even pick up on it.
Back in the day working ED and ICU it was not unusual for car wrecks to come in with their BAC >.3, The highest I ever saw was a .750, and he was shnockered. He admitted to drinking a handle of rum daily. He also ended up dying from cirrhosis. I think after his 3rd DUI and facing life in jail he chose to kill himself with alcohol. He succeeded.
